San Diego County has seven County Jail facilities:

• San Diego Central Jail in Downtown San Diego
• South Bay Detention Center in Chula Vista
• George F. Bailey & East Mesa Detention Center
• Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee (woman’s facility)
• Descanso Detention Center in Alpine
• Vista Detention Center in Vista

Defendants arrested in the greater San Diego area will be taken to San Diego Central Jail in Downtown. Those arrested in North County will be taken to Vista Detention Center in Vista. The booking process typically takes between 3 and 7 hours during which time the defendants photo and fingerprints are taken. They will also run the defendants name and social security number for any outstanding warrants in other counties and states. After this process is complete we are able to post bail and have the defendant released. The release process typically takes between 3 and 6 hours.
